Peace and goodwill to all
Peace and goodwill. What does this mean?
The contemporary connotation is that it refers to peace and goodwill between me and my fellow man.
However, this term is rooted in the deeper meaning of peace and goodwill between humanity and God. This is what Christmas offers. Jesus incarnate as a man, came to deliver us from our deepest conflict.
This conflict was not between the West and communism, nor the conflict between the West and Islamofacism, nor the conflict between the Patriotic West and the traiterous West.
No, Jesus came and delivered us from the doors of Hell. His blood, our ransom. His life, our life. His birth marks the beginning of God's redemption of the world and His reconciliation of the world to Himself, through Jesus.
Jesus came that we might live. Jesus came that there might be peace and goodwill between God and humanity and consequently peace and goodwill between each of us.
So whether you are a lefty or a right-wing nut, I wish you all peace and goodwill this festive season. Jesus offers this to all. May you find Christ lying in a manger, a helpless babe, your redeemer this Christmas.
